Resource List for “STIM” Toys:

Stim Toy List here

Stimming is foundational to an autistic individual; the repetitive motions, movements or sounds are how we focus, concentrate, feel calm and emotionally regulated in environments that constantly create sensory overwhelm and unpredictability. Sometimes, autistic individuals may stim in ways that are problematic; e.g., masturbating in the lunchroom at school to manage the anxiety they feel from all the sensory overload. Using alternative, adaptive stim toys can allow for repetitive motion while effectively reduce anxiety, increase focus and concentration and create a sense of being emotionally regulated in one’s body.
